Room 14 - Learning, Creating, and Sharing in Week 2!

Learning:  The class was given a Math Problem. They read it, discussed the question in pairs, then shared their thoughts with the class to check that everyone understood the question.

Creating:
Now the thinking, strategizing and creativity begins!  Some chose to go at it alone, while others worked collaboratively to solve the problem.

   "Creativity is intelligence having fun!"

There was definitely a lot of thinking going on!

?????????.....????????????.....????????.....

"Mistakes are proof that you are trying."

A-Ha!!!  We realized there were so many ways you can figure this problem out!

We were onto it!... 👀

-We wrote down a multitude of equations using different operations.

-We even drew pictures to help explain our reasoning.

-It also helped to write down words to clarify our mathematical thinking.

             "Believe in yourself!"

Creating mind maps was a great way for Elvis to make sense of all his thoughts.

(Love the big cloud and all the connections it's making! 💙👍)

"Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong."

Sharing:
Finally, it was time to share our learning and mathematical creations with the rest of our whanau.

Archie was very proud of his problem solving skills.

Looks rather impressive with all the operations utilized quite cleverly in the waterfall of equations!😲

The equations kept flowing and flowing.

"It's only when you take responsibility of your life, that you discover how powerful you truly are!"

Arin with his fantastic solutions to the word problem!

Here we go!  Arin doing a great job sharing his problem solving solutions with our whanau.

(Just look how proud Ofeira is of Arin's sharing).

Arin breaking it down for all to understand and appreciate.

"Respect is a two-way street, if you want to get it, you've got to give it."

That's all folks!  Watch this space for more exciting learning, creating and sharing adventures with Room 14 whanau. 👍

(I think I'll take a back seat next time and let Arin teach our next DMIC lesson). 😌

"If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself."
